Barbie EntertainmentSM was the production banner Mattel adopted to differentiate themselves from upcoming productions at that time, notably, Monster High. Adopted on completion of the 17th CGI film, Barbie in A Mermaid Tale, Mattel differed production coordinators depending on the production being worked on at that time. With Mattel Playground Productions launched on October 16, 2013, it looked for real that the alias will retire that time, but with newer films beginning about 2-3 weeks after the release of the previous film in any country, it looked unlikely. However, the film/movie in production at the time ("Barbie: The Pearl Princess") was in reality the last film to use it, in December, 2013.

All films listed on the table below were distributed on home video formats; solely on DVD from 2010 to 2012 and Blu-ray from 2013 until the retiring of the banner. The Blu-ray distribution came in a combo pack with its own DVD and a Digital HD copy in a form of video-on-demand (VOD) serial codes. The Blu-ray releasing also made history by introducing the Barbie brand to HD video viewership compared to standard definition of the previous films.
